Painting the Landscape with Watercolours
Sketch and paint from the countryside. You will be shown how to make the best use of these qualities while enjoying the outdoors in an exploration of watercolour painting. Light, translucency and space are a few of the topics you will explore, with the aim to build up a visual record of the landscape and how it is affected by changes in light. This course will help you to develop and refine a keen sense of observation that will enrich you experience of the countryside. Suitable for all levels, from beginners to more experienced artists.

Watercolour Floral Art
Watercolour Floral Art covers the basic techniques of painting beautiful subjects from the botanical world. It is for anybody who wants to capture their love of plants by painting them or anybody who wants to try a new subject or new medium.
The course will take you through composition, the tonal range, choosing palette of colour and brush strokes. Attention will be given to general drawing skills and to the use of water colours. Our tutor Cheryl Wilbraham will encourage the development of personal style as we believe this is the best way that you can fulfil a sense of achievement.

Painting from the Landscape with Acrylics
The holiday course will give you plenty of chance to practice in this medium and beginners will soon learn why it offers plenty of flexibility.
You will collect visual information from the surroundings producing thumbnail sketches and detailed drawings; use basic elements of composition, tonal variations, arieal and linear perspective to create space and depth. Using visual research you will develop ideas on how to create personal and imaginative images and you will be shown simplifying images, mark making, use of natural pattern, colour and tone.
You will explore and experiment with various techniques of acrylic painting. Creating textures, impasto, glazing , layering, scraping/scratching through and collage.
You can expect the week to be a combination of field trips to collect visual information and working in the studio to develop ideas further.
