This bird watching tour will give you an introduction to birds in different types of habitat in Derbyshire and the Peak District. It will take place when most migrants are on the move giving you the advantage of spotting visiting birds. You will be guided by expert Peter Gibbon who has a relaxed and professional approach to bird watching.

The holiday is useful if you are taking your first steps into bird watching tours and for anyone who wants to experience birds of the UK.

You will be taken to a different location each day where you will be given lots of help to identify and watch birds in different environments like moors, woodland, rivers, reservoirs and farmland. You will also get to visit the washlands of the Trent Valley.

The timing of the holiday is intended to capture the Spring movement of birds. You might see winter visitors like a bittern or even spot an Osprey on its way through the county.

At least one day will include Carsington Water where you will see birds on and around the reservoir which has an extensive list of bird sightings. Other locations include Beeley Moor and Chatsworth Estate, Lathkill or Monsal Dale and the Derwent Valley rising out of Cromford. With Peter's knowledge of the county's best locations there is a good chance that you will spot up to 100 species.

The exact locations will depend on the weather and the possibility of any unusual sightings of birds that might be around. Walking will not be strenuous and you will not be made to do anything you don't want.

The holiday will include an evening with your expert, Peter Gibbon, who will tell you about the week ahead and present an interesting talk from his own experience of bird watching.
