Introduction to Dyeing

rainbow scarfsm Spend a wonderful week-end exploring colour.   This taster week-end will give you an introduction to acid dyeing of wool and silk on the Saturday and fibre reactive dyes for cotton on the Sunday, as well as all the heath and safetly aspects of home dyeing.  So, whether you spin, weaver, create patchwork or embroidery, knit, or crochet, you will discover an even greater world of colour that you can control yourself!

Natural Dyeing

_mg_1954 This five day course will lead you through the process of natural dyeing.  You will be guided through all the aspects of health and safety, discover how the colour is fixed to the fibre, yarn or fabric, how to process the dye plants (depending on the time of year), explore natural dye extracts and use them in a huge range of ways, from a simple dye pot to painting them on your fabrics, fibres and yarns.

Painted Warps

summer buildings sm Liven up your weaving with some fabulous dyeing and painting techniques.  Learn how to produce stunning effects on your warps using a variety of dyes appropriate to our selected yarns and methods including painting, screen printing and dyeing.  A variety pf yarns will be available and a variety of dyes, including acid, fibre reactive and natural dye extracts.  Those wishing to screen print will need to bring their own loom, but all other equipment will be provided.
