Come and learn how to use your hand spun in weaving. Using a portable loom learn simple woven techniques to weave your own unique and stunning fabrics with your own yarns. Learn to calculate how much yarn you have for a warp, how to warp the loom, simple design methods and finishing your woven projects. Painted Warps

Liven up your weaving with some fabulous dyeing and painting techniques. Learn how to produce stunning effects on your warps using a variety of dyes appropriate to our selected yarns and methods including painting, screen printing and dyeing. A variety pf yarns will be available and a variety of dyes, including acid, fibre reactive and natural dye extracts.
Those wishing to screen print will need to bring their own loom, but all other equipment and materials will be provided. |

Learn to Weave

Introduction to Weaving Design

Under the expert guidance of Alison Daykin, an award winning textile designer, you will be shown simple tricks and tips, over the five days of this course, that will soon have you designing your own exclusive fabrics. You don't need to be able to paint and draw to take part in this course, just have an open mind! You will explore how “sett” affects your fabrics; discover how colour can make a simple weave look completely different; learn how to read a draft and adapt it to your own needs. You will go home with a range of swatches of your own designs and the confidence to to put the “Wow” factor into all your future weave projects.
