You may even get the bug to want to learn how to get creative with luxury fibres like angora and silk or get trendy with eco-yarns like bamboo and use natural dyes to help the environment.

Do you have a new rigid heddle or “knitters” loom and don't know where to start? This is the course for you! Come and learn how to warp this useful and much underrated loom, understand the difference between a balance weave and a warp or weft faced weave and weave a scarf and a runner over the week-end. Award winning textile designer, Alison, will give you lots of ideas, inspiration and confidence to continue weaving once you get home.

Under the expert guidance of Alison Daykin, an award winning textile designer, you will be shown simple tricks and tips, over the five days of this course, that will soon have you producing your own exclusive designs, be it for weave, spinning, embroidery, patchworks and more. You don't need to be abel to paint or draw to take part in this course, just have an open mind !
You will explore how colour can transform your work; discover how texture can make simple technique look completely different; learn how to produce pleasing stripes. You will go home with a range of swatches of your own design in whatever skill you enjoy and the confidence to put the "Wow" factor into all your future textile projects.

Four Shaft Weaving

Learn to weave using a Four shaft loom. Alison of Alison Yule Textiles, will show you how to calculate and make a warp, dress a a four shaft loom and finish your fabric and will help you to understand the difference between a balanced weave and a warp or weft faced weave. Over this intense five days you will be given all the basic knowledge to be able to weave confidently in plain weave and twill.

spindlebagweb   Don't knit? Want to do more than just knit your hand spun? Have you been told that you can't weave with hand spun yarn or that it can only be used in the weft? This course will dispel some myths and inspire you to explore weaving using your own unique hand spun yarns.
Come and learn how to use your hand spun in weaving. Using a portable loom learn simple woven techniques to weave your own unique and stunning fabrics with your own yarns. Learn to calculate how much yarn you have for a warp, how to warp the loom, simple design methods and finishing your woven projects. Bring your own hand spun yarn to make warps and use in the weft and leave with fabulous woven articles.
